											<description><![CDATA[<p>this weekend sees the premiere of a new concerto written for and dedicated to one daniel timothy mckay by the brilliant young composer timothy hansen. it's a super-exciting, dramatic, single movement work hot off the pencils - tim put the final touches on it mid august. a fantastic addition to the guitar's repertoire, which deserves to played a heap of times and make sr. hansen a pile of filthy lucre. these concerts will feature the canberra youth orchestra conducted by dom harvey. you can be a part of this historic event [!] by bustin' a move to</p>

											<description><![CDATA[<p>zoe and i have pretty much completed work on our new cd - just waiting on a master cd, finishing off graphic design and programme notes then it's off to the people whole turn it into a 'compact disc'. so far we are stoked, martin, blake and rhys at move have done a tip top job. hopefully we shan't be the only ones who think so!! i have uploaded a preview track <a href="http://danmckay.net/Song%201.mp3">here</a> for your aural excitement...or otherwise...hoping to finally get the disc out within the next two months...you can kinda only get to this secret page preview thing by reading this blog, so i hope you feel special!!</p>
<p>zoe and i have a few dates for musica viva coming up - 5 concerts at the end of august, dates and further info to be posted soon. plus we'll be doing a cd launch too, once we know when the disc is on the way to being finished</p>
<p>i have a few solo gigs coming up in a few months time for the canberra, melbourne and hobart classical guitar societies</p>

<p>been listening to this great lp by the nouvelle vague - bossa nova/lounge type covers of all these post-punk songs by depeche mode, public image, killing joke, xtc etc. got onto this one a bit late, it was released in 2004, but they breath new life into these tunes. and spinning the odd segovia lp too</p>

<div align="left"><font size="2">a&nbsp;uk posse run by james turnbull has seen fit to run a podcast featuring yours truly. isn't that nice? for those of you who already own and have even listened to my solo&nbsp;cd this is perhaps not so interesting, as&nbsp;the programme consists of works from said&nbsp;cd - including a bonus 'hidden' track...spooky...but the more people who&nbsp;tune in&nbsp;the more chance they have of retaining their funding and that's all the better for young [ahem...i use the term loosely...] musicians who need the exposure </font></div>

<p align="left"><font size="2">i enter the studio again&nbsp;next week&nbsp;with </font><a href="http://www.guitartrek.net/" target="_blank"><font size="2">guitar trek</font></a><font size="2"> to finish off our new cd of australian works. this one features premiere recordings of recent works by richard charlton, martin wesley-smith, nigel westlake and phillip houghton. with the exception of nigel's piece all of the works were composed for guitar trek within the last ten years. this disc is a real beauty - no kidding! - and i play three guitars on it, lamentably not at the same time...we are still waiting on a release date for our fourth cd which features works by spanish and south american composers manuel de falla, joaquin turina, paolo bellinati among others. both these discs will be released on </font><a href="http://www.abc.net.au/" target="_blank"><font size="2">abc classics</font></a><font size="2">, and will be available for purchase </font><a href="http://shop.abc.net.au/" target="_blank"><font size="2">here</font></a><font size="2">, as is our back catalogue</font></p>
