I would like to bring the following to anyone who is interested. I studied at the Australian National University School of Music under Timothy Kain and subsequently worked in the Guitar Department. It has a very long record of producing a consistently high level of graduate and it is incredible that it [and the entire school as we know it] is under threat. Your action is needed

ANU School of Music - As you may already know, there is a plan to declare vacant all staff positions and introduce a much smaller organisation with a new course structure that will effectively eliminate instrumental 1:1 tuition and any standards of instrumental performance.  There are a number of avenues for expressing a view if you wish.

  • The second is a rally at the ANU on Monday May 14th at 12:30pm which the students are organising. They would value support to achieve a large turnout.
  • During the consultation period, feedback and suggestions for the change-management process are welcome at somconsult@anu.edu.au.
  • And there is a link on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/ANUSchoolofMusicSaveYourDegree
  • The consultation period is three weeks, so your expressions can make a difference. Please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested.
